Celebrating our 10th birthday, Aawen were featured in the West Briton this month (April 2010).

Jodie Rich, business manager at RBS presented us with a cake to celebrate. We will be around for many more decades to come... a lot longer than the cake (eh em Jon).

Design bosses looking ahead to next 10 years

Two Truro businessmen have celebrated the 10th anniversary of their design studio company.

Adrian Taylor and Jonathan Statham wanted to help fellow businesses by offering websites, branding, brochures and packaging under their business Aawen Design Studio Ltd.

The success of the firm, which now boasts a vast array of clients in public, private and charitable sectors, is a far cry from 10 years ago when Adrian and Jonathan started the business from scratch.

They met through Jon's wife Kath, who had known Adrian when they were at college in Cheltenham and introduced him to Jon when he came to Cornwall in 1992. Jon's background was with Cornwall County Council where he had worked as designer for more than 10 years.

Adrian came to Cornwall after obtaining qualifications in graphic design and working for leading design and marketing agencies in Cheltenham, Plymouth and finally Cornwall.

Together the friends decided to combine their vast experience to create a winning team. Their philosophy sees them use their professional, friendly approach to work with customers, listening to their ideas and needs, rather than imposing their thoughts and ideas on them, to create an enterprise which has grown from strength to strength.

They now feel they have created fantastic foundations to enable their business to leap forward into the next ten years and for their team of four to expand.

Adrian said "It's hard to believe that it is 10 years since Jon and I took the plunge and decided to start our own business. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far, particularly our loyal customers and small team."

Royal Bank of Scotland's business manager Jodie Rich presented the duo with a cake to celebrate their anniversary.
