• HTML

  HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. This is the popular markup language for building web pages. HTML allows for the creation of structured pages and its contents such as; text, paragraphs, lists, links, tables. HTML can embed images and other objects into web pages. It can call in other functionality to act on the page, CSS and Javascript are two you may have heard of.
  
  

  CSS

  Stands for Cascading Style Sheet. CSS is used to control the look of HTML, covering things like font color(American Spelling as standard for CSS!) , family,  size, the layout of the html document, the appearance of buttons, background images and more.
  CSS 'code' should sit in its own document which is then called into action by a web page(eg HTML page). The reason for CSS is that 'content' sits separately from 'style', thus improving accessibility and negates the need for repetition of code and reduces the complexity of website structure, therefore making changes to the style of your site a whole lot easier.
  
  

  SEO

  Search Engine Optimisation. SEO is the process of improving your websites rank in search engines. The process like any project begins with good research, evaluating what potential customers are searching for and knowing how a search engine 'reads' your site.
  Optimizing the site means adjusting the content of your sites pages so that it becomes recognisable by search engines as being relevant to certain keywords.
  Keywords essentially are the words typed in by a user to Google, Yahoo, Bing etc.. If your web page is deemed as relevant to those keywords you will be on your way to a good ranking in the results page.

   

  CMS

  Content Management System. A CMS allows editing and creation of content for websites, even for those with basic IT skills/experience. As a basic example our customers can edit certain areas of text on a website and upload new images. This allows our clients to have up-to-date content, therefore making the site more valuable to its readers and potentially increasing site rank and traffic.
